Our New Approach to Impact & Support for our Members

After launching in 2019, we’ve engaged hundreds of people in our programs. Our Community Service Days, fundraising events, scholarship fund and member experiences have allowed professionals to do well and do good through volunteering, networking and other impact opportunities.

With the COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve had to put a pause on our in-person programs and shift to virtual engagement and initiatives. Our pivot has created five opportunities for our members and the broader community to stay engaged with Small Biz Cares, connect with like-minded professionals, and make a difference in the community.

Weekly Virtual Info Sessions:

We’ve launched weekly virtual info sessions, Wednesdays from 4:00-5:00 PM. These sessions feature members who share business tips and stories of impact. You can join the live events on Zoom to engage in the conversation or view the replay on Facebook.

Online Fundraisers:

We have setup online fundraisers, including ones that provide PPE and medical supplies to support frontline healthcare workers.

Online Collection Drives:

Partnering with local nonprofits, we’ve set up collection drives to provide families with items including diapers, wipes, food and hygiene products.

More Content:

We are developing more content including member features, helpful resources for small businesses and stories of impact.

Small Biz Cares Week:

With the cancellation of National Small Business Week, we’ve brought together community partners to put together a week that is all about small business, positivity and impact.

We also understand that our members and the broader small business community have been impacted and have adjusted our approach to membership:

  1. We are pausing renewals on membership and thus all current members will continue to be members. We will reach back out on renewals later in the year as we have more clarity on “returning to normal”.
  2. New members can join us and have their membership contribution delayed until July 1st – contact Nevin at columbus@smallbizcares.org if you are interested in membership

A Message from the Board of Small Biz Cares

Our mission at Small Biz Cares is to connect, mobilize and inspire small businesses to make a lasting positive impact in our community. A lot of our impact revolves around our collaborative volunteering and fundraising programs. While our events are currently on hold, we still want to make sure we are bringing our members and network together to make a difference.

Now, more than ever, there is great need for our community to come together to get past this crisis. If you have the means, we encourage you to figure out how you can help others get through this difficult time. If we all do one small act of kindness, imagine how much positive impact we can make.

We understand the challenges many of you are facing over the next month or longer. This is why we are sharing several opportunities to support the business and broader community. We are also providing some information and resources to help your business and employees get through this difficult time. We hope everyone takes this time to stay safe, healthy and enjoy time with their families. Please reach out to us at columbus@smallbizcares.org if we can be of help in any way.

Sincerely,
The Small Biz Cares Board Team
