Member Feature: Jessica Rivera of Allstate Insurance

Small Biz Cares Investor Member, Jessica Rivera, has been a consistent presence at Small Biz Cares events, including community service days and special experiences. Her commitment to giving back doesn’t stop there. Jessica’s team and family are involved in a number of philanthropic efforts that show small businesses can be a strong force for good.

We asked Jessica to share more about her, her business and what she does to support the community.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

An Accountant

What brought you to start your business?

My husband’s push and an opportunity that I couldn’t say no to.

Tiger King

How long have you been in business?

1 ½ years

Is there a business and/or leadership book you live by? If so, who wrote it and why would other SBC members benefit from it?

Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert T Kiyosaki. It is a great read on understanding finances.

Tell us about one cause your company has supported. How did you make an impact?

I’m the President of the Delaware Chapter for Byron Saunders–we feed local families in need during Thanksgiving. Our goal last year (first year) was 50 families, we actually had the opportunity to impact 151 families and donated over 1,000 lbs of food to the local food pantry. This year our goal is over 300 families!

How do you engage your employees in the community?

My agency was the drop off location for food drives. We also sorted, inventoried and boxed the boxes in the front of my agency. My employees and children were involved in every step.

What would you like the community to know about your company and how it’s making an impact?

We give back to the community, not only with the Byron Saunders Foundation, but we’ve donated money to local sports programs to help the schools. We volunteer with the local KinderCare’s during their summer safety festivals. This past year we sponsored Operation KidSafe, which allowed us to fingerprint 1000’s of kids around central Ohio and provide the card stock to parents that is Amber Alert ready.

What causes are you curious about?

More causes and volunteer opportunities that I can get my children involved with.
